Od wykładowcy: The aim of my lecture is to present and briefly survey development of Lithuanian theatre that counts a little bit less than a century. The official birthday of professional drama and opera that used Lithuanian as its language is 1920, however, the development itself has begun several decades earlier. I will propose to make four historical sections – the Thirties, the Forties, the Nineties and the Noughties. We will find prominent productions of „The Cherry Orchard“ by Anton Chekhov there as well as completely different stages of development that Lithuanian theatre underwent in the last hundred years.
