This session is about the 'close analysis' of games. I will be discussing methods of analysis, and sharing examples of my work, including my attempts to explore the relationships between assessment and normate subjectivity, able-bodies and monstrous threat in horror and science fiction-themed games.

Diane Carr is currently the Programme Director of the Digital Media programme at UCL, University of London. She leads research on Playful Bodies, Technology and Community for a large, collaborative project on Disability and Community funded by the AHRC (2016-2021) and has published games analysis and taught game studies for more than a decade.
